The Power House Teams Of The NBA Future

by Brandon Ribak on June 9, 2009

I am not too sure if many of you think about the future of the NBA, but it is one aspect that constantly pops up in my head throughout my daily activities.

With the 2010 free agent offseason signing approaching at quick intervels, have any of you fans actually sat down to think about how ridiculous any NBA team can become with just a simple signing of a free agent player or two? I mean imagine two superstars or three all-stars joining heads with one another and absolutely running the league for years to come.

Forget using the word ridiculous, it would be more like historic…especially with the type of athletes that will be ready to sign a hefty contract with any team.

As the Lakers prepare for their Game 7 showdown with the Houston Rockets Sunday, their coach is using some unique motivational tools to mentally inspire his club. The Daily News reports Jackson showed the team a compilation of video clips from Michael Jordan’s years with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan Farmar told the media “He just said we have to go out there and make things happen.” Hopefully for the Lakers’ sake, they will have a different outcome than in Game 6.

Game 6 of the Lakers-Rockets game was the highest rated NBA game in ESPN history, according to the Press-Enterprise. Over 7 million viewers watched the Rockets knock off Los Angeles, and that total took over the top spot from the 2006 East Finals that featured the Heat and Pistons.

ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that Wolves coach Kevin Mchale will ultimately make the final decision whether or not he will continue to coach Minnesota. According to Kevin Love, the whole team wants him back though. “I think the consensus is everybody likes him and would love to play for him again.”
