The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill
5/23/09

As the Lakers prepare for what should be quite a challenge ahead of them playing in Denver the next two games, all is not happy on the home front. The Los Angeles Times reports that there seems to be a disagreement that has caused non-verbal communication between coach Phil Jackson and center Andrew Bynum. The root of the beef comes from Bynum wanting to play more, and Jackson opting other lineups thus far.
When Bynum was asked by media if he would approach Jackson about his feelings, he stated, “Nah. It’s not really my place, it’s for him to decide what’s going on.” Bynum also told reporters that his knee, which caused him to miss 31 games during the regular season, has still not healed completely, and is giving him soreness now.

In NBA Draft news, the story in Memphis seems to be changing daily now regarding who the Grizzlies want to select this year. The Memphis Flyer reports that the Grizz will look to move up to the number 1 spot overall, so they can select Blake Griffin, and that talks of them being in love with Hasheem Thabeet over Ricky Rubio are not true.

I get emails and tips on trade rumors in my email box every day, and recently, have had a few friends on Twitter send me direct messages of rumors they are hearing about their favorite local team. Yesterday, I received an email from LayupDrill.com reader Jenna in St. Paul, Minnesota, who said the T-Wolves, who have three first round picks in this years draft, may be interesting in packaging one of them. Two deals that have been thrown around involved the Chicago Bulls. The first would be a sign and trade for free agent Ben Gordon. Minnesota would team Gordon up with Randy Foye in the back court, and the Wolves would have that go-to player and flat out scorer that they sorely need. If they aren’t able to get that done, another, possibly easier deal, would be acquiring Kirk Hinrich from the Bulls for Mike Miller.

After averaging 16.39 PPG, a career-high 6.67 RPG, 3.43 APG, and nailing 155 three-pointers in 70 games for the Memphis Grizzlies last season, Mike Miller has not lived up to the Minnesota Timberwolves high expectations this year.
