A recent Rolling Stone article has many basketball fans shaking their head with amazement. The article proclaimed OKC Thunder forward Kevin Durant as the second best player in the NBA, behind Lebron James, and in front of Kobe Bryant. Of course, let’s first taking nothing away from Durant. KD didn’t ask for this comparison, so there’s no beef with him. While the debate over who has been the second or third best player in the regular season this year could go on for a while, the comments Warriors guard Monta Ellis said could lead to hysterical laughter.

Ellis, when questioned by the media on his take of the three best players in the game, positioned himself right behind Lebron, and before Kobe. Ellis is a good player, averaging over 25 points a game for a bad team, but he is nowhere near the top 10, let alone top 3 in the game today.

Our list of the Top 50 Players in the league will come out later this summer, but for this season only, who is in your top 3?
Kobe, Lebron, Durant, Melo, Amare? Looking forward to the comments.
