Duke - Gerald Henderson

I am going on record to make my Sweet 16 Predictions, many of which haven’t changed since I filled my bracket. Here are tonight’s match ups, alonng with predictions and reasons.

1. UConn vs. Purdue
When: 7:07PM EST
Where: CBS in HD
Vegas Likes: UConn
Intangible: UConn scandal hits the fan 24 hours before the big game
We Like: I don’t know if the scandal breaking only 24 hours before the game will distract UConn or not, but in this case, I believe the Huskies will rally around Jim Calhoun, and put on their best performance of the tournament. UConn 76 Purdue 63

2. Memphis vs. Missouri [click to continue…]

Coach K disses The President?

by The Boss on March 19, 2009

Coach K - Duke
The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill
3/19/09

With the NCAA Tournament just hours away from kicking off, a whole nation of sports fans will be focusing on College Basketball over the next two days, including President Barrack Obama. President Obama took a few minutes out of his busy day to fill out his own bracket with ESPN’s Andy Katz, and selected the North Carolina Tar Heels to win it all. At least one person was not happy with his picks, and that was Duke’s head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

Coach K was asked by the Associated Press about Obama selecting UNC to win it all, and his response:
“Somebody said that we’re not in President Obama’s Final Four, and as much as I respect what he’s doing, really, the economy is something that he should focus on, probably more than the brackets.”
Watch what he says here:

While many in the room seemed to think Coach K was joiking, and just making light of Duke not being selected by President Obama, I think he may have chose the wrong forum to voice his opinion. With Duke not being able to make it to the Final Four since 2004, and the Sweet 16 since 2006, he may want to make certain the Blue Devils don’t fall victim to any early round upsets yet again.

Greg Paulus gets posterized

February 8, 2009

In case you missed the Duke vs. Miami game yesterday afternoon, the Blue Devils did bounce back for a 78-75 victory over a very good Miami team.
