Now that the New Orleans Hornets have dismissed Byron Scott of his coaching duties there, one might wonder where the former NBA Coach of the Year will land. There will certainly be more coaching vacancies open up as the season continues, however all signs point to Byron getting some time to watch the games from the comfort of a studio. NBA TV and ESPN both reportedly may have interest in bringing Scott in for the meat of the NBA season, likely after Christmas. There are some die-hard Laker fans that believe after Phil Jackson (eventually) retires, Scott could be a suitable replacement as well. Stay tuned…

In other news, a Washington Post report earlier this week suggesting that Allen Iverson would be a good fit in Cleveland didn’t seem to amuse the Cavalier fans, or players. One source close to the team suggested that the Cavs “want no part of Chuck(Iverson’s nickname)”, and reiterated that the Cavs have their own troubled guard issues, regarding Delonte West.

As the 2009-10 NBA Season tipped off last night, a classic battle in Cleveland went down without a notable piece to Boston’s puzzle. Glen Davis was not in uniform, and won’t be for the immediate future, after getting into a fight with a friend the night before the season opener. Davis suffered an injury to his thumb that required surgery, and will have him shelved for up to 2 months. While Boston added depth in the front court during the off-season in Rasheed Wallace and Shelden Williams, Davis afforded them the luxury of resting Kevin Garnett early in the season. The team, as expected, did suspend Davis, however, are looking forward for him to get back on the court and contribute to their title run.
