Blake Griffin, the expected number one pick in the NBA Draft later this month, didn’t have to do much between now and draft night to solidify his selection by the Clippers. L.A had told the world the night they won the lottery that Blake was their guy, and Griffin has said all the right things regarding the potential of playing there. Saturday, Griffin took part in a hour long open workout to display his skills to the team and the local media. The Los Angeles Times reports that Griffin impressed with his athleticism and prowess on the court, though, as Griffin admitted, his shot was off. “It felt all right. I often like to think that fans our World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill enjoy our daily updates that compile the biggest rumors and headlines from around the NBA in a few short paragraphs. Well, as part of doing my job in reporting rumors, I feel it is only right to report rumor killers. This will be the first in a series of posts that will come as needed to diffuse any rumors from previous days that were floating around.
1. Wizards fans, don’t worry. JaVale McGee isn’t going anywhere.
Michael Lee(no relation) of the Washington Post reported in his column this morning there is no truth to ESPN.com reports from earlier in the week about a potential Wizards-Thunder trade that involved the lanky big man. While many feel that McGee will draw interest from teams, the Wizards contend they are not moving him.
2. Phil and Andrew have no beef.
This wasn’t out long at all. The Los Angeles Times had orignally reported about a lack of communication between Lakers coach Phil Jackson and center Andrew Bynum, in which Bynum was upset over playing time. Phil spoke to the media yesterday and said that the reason Bynum has not been playing has been due to his conditioning and nothing else.
3. Clippers are ready for Blake.
Marcus Camby spoke with the media yesterday, and stated his excitement for the opportunity to play alongside Blake Griffin. “I like what we are building in LA with the addition of Blake, and with the depth and experience we have, we should be able to make a playoff push.”
