The first big move of the free agent season has happened. Yahoo! Sports reports former Bulls guard Ben Gordon has agreed to terms with the Detroit Pistons, in a move that will pay Gordon $55 Million over the next five seasons. Gordon was a key component of Chicago’s playoff run this year, and proved to be one of the true clutch players in the league. The Pistons also made a splash earlier in the day, when they came to terms with forward Charlie Villaneuva, for 5 years and $35 Million dollars. The free agent signings of Gordon and Charlie V could spell the end of the Richard Hamilton and Teyshaun Prince era in Motown. [click to continue…]

Blake Griffin, the expected number one pick in the NBA Draft later this month, didn’t have to do much between now and draft night to solidify his selection by the Clippers. L.A had told the world the night they won the lottery that Blake was their guy, and Griffin has said all the right things regarding the potential of playing there. Saturday, Griffin took part in a hour long open workout to display his skills to the team and the local media. The Los Angeles Times reports that Griffin impressed with his athleticism and prowess on the court, though, as Griffin admitted, his shot was off. “It felt all right. I wish I could have shot a little better,” said Griffin after the workout. I’m sure Clipper execs aren’t holding that against him right now. [click to continue…]
