
There have been talks about Jazz forward Carlos Boozer opting out of the final year of his contract since December. Given the state of the economy, those talks have not been as loud, though it seems there are two viable teams that could make a serious run for him. Suns Center Shaquille O’ Neal told reporters in New York ” I’m feeling I can play five more years.” More than likely, those five years won’t be in a Suns uniform though. That brings up a very interesting idea that NY Newsday reports today. Could Shaq end his career with Coach Mike D’Antoni as the anchor of the Knicks front court? Shaq, who will be a free agent in 2010, may be interested in playing in the biggest city in the world, and if his recent play is any indicator(22 Points, 10 Rebounds over the last month) then Shaq will have suitors, in New York and other cities.
As talks have continued on both sides of the Stephon Marbury buyout saga, a new potential suitor has emerged as the front runner for his services. The NY Post reports this morning that Marbury is being courted by the Greek team Olympiacos, the same team who signed former Hawks star Josh Childress last summer.
Reports state Marbury may be offered nearly $15 Million dollars to play for the Greece team, which would far exceed any amount any NBA could offer him to play for half a season. Stay Tuned….
The Miami Herald reports this morning that the Heat management are only interested in receiving players who have contracts expiring no later than next season in return for swingman Shawn Marion. This would help the Heat place themselves in the hunt to land a big name free agent to go alongside Dwayne Wade in the future. [click to continue…]
