In what is a complete turn from what GM Danny Ferry stated to reporters just days ago, it seems the Cavs are intent on making the biggest splash of the day, by obtaining the rights to Suns center Shaquille O’Neal. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer is reporting today that the Cavs are offering Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Suns for Shaq. With Amare Stoudemire now set to stay in Phoenix, at least for now, all signs point to Shaq being on his way out. Things will get very busy in the few hours that remain till the trade deadline.

ESPN.com is reporting the Knicks are closing in on a deal that will involve both the Chicago Bulls and OKC Thunder. The deal would send Larry Hughes to New York, along with Chris Wilcox. The Bulls would get Tim Thomas and Jerome James, and the Thunder would get Malik Rose.
The Sacramento Bee is reporting a deal that is done between the Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Kings are sending Bobby Jackson and Shelden Williams to Minnesota for Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth. Sacramento has continued to state their moves are solely for financial purposes, and they are picking up two expiring contracts in McCants and Booth.

In other news, one person who was not happy that Tyson Chandler failed his physical was the Thunder’s Joe Smith. ESPN.com is reporting that Smith is now telling people he wants to get his contract bought out, and sign with the Boston Celtics.

Point Guards could be on the move next week

Chris Duhon Knicks

As the All-Star break has finally arrived, many teams couldn’t have seen it come soon enough. One of the battered and brusied is the New York Knicks, whose hopes of making the postseason may rest on the shoulders of their only true point guard, Chris Duhon. Duhon, who sat out of last nights game against the Clippers with a sprained ankle, will have a MRI on it today to see the severity. The Knicks may be forced to look at making a move for help at the point guard position. While many don’t expect a big name to be brought in, you could see a potential trade with two teams. One would be the Atlanta Hawks, who could offer Acie Law along with the expiring contract of Zaza Pachulia for the expiring contract of Malik Rose. Another potential suitor would be the Sacramento Kings. Bobby Jackson and his expiring contract are reportedly available, and the Kings would welcome young talent in return, but if they could not land Nate Robinson or David Lee, another expiring contract may work(Malik Rose).

In other news, The Clippers, who we reported earlier this week offered up Baron Davis to Dallas along with Chris Kaman for Jason Kidd, now may be looking at another trade partner. The Memphis Grizzlies reportedly have been contacted about their interest in Davis, and having a back court of Mayo and B-Diddy. In return, Mike Conley and Darko Milicic would be sent to L.A. Conley intrigues Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy, while Darko could fit into the Clippers long term plans, after they make room via trades in the front court. Stay tuned…
