The Philadelphia 76ers have not had the success they envisioned heading into the season, and head coach Eddie Jordan may be the fall guy, just one season into his tenure. The Philly NBC affiliate is reporting that Jordan will be relieved of his duties after the season is over, and the team will look to bring in Doug Collins, Avery Johnson, or Jeff Van Gundy as his replacement. Many of those coaches will also be on the short list of all teams looking to change leaders this summer, and with the Sixers not currently in title contention, there may be a long wait for fans to see if they can land a big name coach.

In other news, the Gaston Gazette is reporting today that Bobcats owner Michael Jordan may be looking to bring in former UNC teammates James Worthy and even Sam Perkins to the Bobcats organization is some capacity. While not being clear on what role Worthy or Perkins could play, there is talk that Jordan will look to those he is familiar and has a prior relationship with first to build the Bobcats management team.

In free agent news, the talks around who will be able to land Hawks guard Joe Johnson continue to heat up among lottery bound teams. Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni is believed to have Joe Johnson high on his wish list, though the Bulls and Clippers also will be making a full court press to pry Johnson from Atlanta. Both Chicago and Los Angeles can offer Joe something the Knicks can’t, a promising core of players around him already in place. The potential of playing alongside Derrick Rose in Chicago, or Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, and Blake Griffin in L.A is enticing. There is still an outside chance Johnson stays in Atlanta, where he would remain with an exciting core group of players, however most feel Johnson is this years Ben Gordon among free agents, and will look to cash in on his rising stock.

The news out of San Antonio wasn’t good this morning. Spurs guard Tony Parker will be out at least six weeks with a broken hand, in an injury he suffered in a victory over the Grizzlies this weekend. The Spurs, who enter the week at 36-24, are stuck in the middle of a heated playoff race in the West, and will likely look to add a veteran guard for the stretch run as an insurance policy.

Rafer Alston of the Miami Heat may be an option that comes to mind, however he has not been released by Miami yet. Alston, for those that don’t know, has been suspended indefinitely by the team for not making himself available to the team. Alston has played in 52 games this season for Miami, and has averaged 8 points and 3 assists.

If the Spurs make no move, George Hill will be looked upon to be a more vital scorer and distributor than before to keep San Antonio in contention for home court in their first round series. San Antonio is 1 1/2 games in front of Portland for the 7th seed, and would face the Mavericks in the first round if the playoffs started today.
