First Charles Barkley, and now these two?

In two totally seperate cases, Jason Richardson of the Phoenix Suns, and Antoine Walker, formerly of the Memphis Grizzlies, were both charged with suspicion of DUI in Phoenix and Miami.

2009 is not starting off well for Antoine Walker. The Associated Press is reporting that Walker was charged with suspicion of drunk driving early this morning in Miami. Walker was driving a black Mercedes with no lights on at 5am when the officers stopped him. Walker refused a breathalyzer test, though the officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Walker.

Richardson was accused of DUI after being stopped at 2am in Phoenix, just 30 miles from where Charles Barkley was stopped last month. The officer who stopped Richardson stated in the police report that Richardson’s blood level was above the legal .08 limit.

The first Monday morning is not a slow one when it comes to trade rumors in the league. The first big rumor comes from the NY Daily News, where a potential 3 way trade involving the Knicks, Clippers, and Blazers has been thrown around by team execs over the last few days. Coach Mike D’Antoni is in love with the play of Camby, and in favor of putting him as his center, to play alongside Al Harrington and Wilson Chandler in the front court. The Blazers have been interested in David Lee for a while now, and the trade would include the Clippers receiving Quentin Richardson, The Knicks getting Camby and Channing Frye, and the Blazers getting David Lee.

We told you yesterday that the Kings were looking at unloading some young talent, and now they seem intent on moving a veteran asap. The Kings have been in discussions with both the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers about interest in center Brad Miller. The Heat reportedly would send Shawn Marion along with another player to be named later or cash considerations for Miller. The Cavs are offering up Wally Szczerbiak for Miller, but Sacramento isn’t too high on that potential deal. Read more

With all the talk about Stephon Marbury joining the Celtics should he be released circulating here and around the net, you knew we would hear from Steph about this sooner or later. The NY Post reports this morning that Marbury denies that he has made up his mind about going to Boston, should a buyout with the Knicks happen in the coming weeks. Marbury reportedly wants to review all his options, and wants to play for a contender. The options available to him by any team interested would have him in a backup capacity, which would be an adjustment to Marbury. Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge may look at other potential options for a point guard, as his team contends with Cleveland and Orlando in the competitive East, and is in dire need of some backcourt scoring help. In other news around the league, the Kings seem to be ready to unload some young talent. Guard Quincy Douby and forward Shelden Williams are on the trading block, according to the Sacramento Bee. What would Sacramento be looking for in exchange for the pair? Cash or Draft Picks. Take your pick.

News out of the NBA offices state that neither Vince Carter or referee Derrick Stafford will be disciplined for the incident that occured earlier this week. If you haven’t seen it, click here.

News that did not get a lot of coverage late last month was the reported talks about Andre Miller possibly being moved out of Philly. The Sixers have had light discussions with a few playoff contenders, notably the Cleveland Cavaliers. Though it does not look like Miller will be heading to Cleveland right now, don’t rule out these talks heating up before the trade deadline. Other teams that may look at the veteran point guard could be Boston or Charlotte.

The first big rumor of 2009 includes the most interesting player in the league today, Stephon Marbury. Assuming the Knicks and Marbury can come to terms on a buyout, many major media outlets, including ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, is reporting that Marbury will become a member of the Boston Celtics, and reunite with Kevin Garnett. Marbury, who has played with the Timberwolves, Nets, Suns, and Knicks, has received more coverage for his public feud with Knicks management than he did when he was playing on the court. Most would agree that Steph had become a distraction to the team, hence the reason Donnie Walsh and company banished him. But that is the first mistake the Knicks made in handling Marbury. Read more

This story could not have come at a worst time. The Associate Press reports that TNT analyst and former Phoenix Sun Charles Barkley was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of DUI after being stopped for running a stop sign around 1:30 AM. When asked to take a break test, Barkley declined, but was given a blood test. The results of the blood test were not available immediately. Barkley was processed, cited, and released. The cops reportedly called for a taxi to take Barkley home.

Staying out in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic brings to light the Steve Nash era in Phoenix may be ending soon. Nash talked to media regarding where he may play after his contract expires in the 2009-10 season. Nash said ” There are a few situations out there that would be attractive, so I feel fortunate that there could be some possibilities for me.” Among those Nash listed as potential destinations include staying in Phoenix, New York, and Toronto.
