The Hedo Turkoglu era in Toronto was a short one. The Phoenix Suns finalized a deal with Toronto today that sent Turkoglu to the Suns in exchange for Leandro Barbosa and Dwayne Jones. Turkoglu, who spent just one year in Toronto, had been rumored earlier this summer to being headed back to Orlando, though that never materialized. He should be able to thrive in the uptempo style that Steve Nash and company plays, causing matchup problems for many West foes.

The news of Turkoglu joining Phoenix comes hours after the team announced they had traded for former Hawks forward Josh Childress. Childress, who played overseas last season, was sent to the Suns in exchange for a 2012 2nd round pick.

In other news, the Heat are close to terms with free agent Mike Miller. Miller, who is also coveted by other teams, would be taking the veterans minimum to join LeBron, Bosh, and Wade. The chance of winning the NBA title is more important to Miller at this point in his career than being the first or second option offensively.

Before last night, the highlight of the Ron Artest experiment in L.A had been his hair tribute to Dennis Rodman. But when Kobe Bryant’s fadeaway jumper missed the mark, Artest was there to put it back and give the Lakers a 3-2 series lead over Phoenix. This was just moments after Artest failed to rotate, and Jason Richardson had tied the game on a 25 foot prayer that banked in.

The Lakers may be up 3-2, but this series is as even as any Los Angeles has played in over the past few years. No one should be surprised if Phoenix not only wins Game 6, but had the Lakers on the ropes in Game 7. Steve Nash and company have always been an achillies heel to Kobe’s Lakers, and whether the zone defense or inspired bench play, L.A continues to have problems with them.

Suns Overwhelm Lakers in Game 4 [VIDEO]

May 26, 2010

What a difference a week makes. The Lakers left Staples Center after Game 2 with fans already getting ready to host Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Celtics. As good as the Lakers played at home(or as bad as the Suns played), there didn’t seem to be a reason to think L.A would [...]

Lakers Have No Answer for Amare in Game 3

May 24, 2010

They say the series doesn’t really start until the road team wins a game. If that’s the case, the Celtics/Magic series will end tonight, with Boston sweeping the disinterested Orlando franchise out of the playoffs, and the Suns and Lakers have yet to begin. Through 3 games out West, the home team has held up [...]
