The news out of San Antonio wasn’t good this morning. Spurs guard Tony Parker will be out at least six weeks with a broken hand, in an injury he suffered in a victory over the Grizzlies this weekend. The Spurs, who enter the week at 36-24, are stuck in the middle of a heated playoff race in the West, and will likely look to add a veteran guard for the stretch run as an insurance policy.

Rafer Alston of the Miami Heat may be an option that comes to mind, however he has not been released by Miami yet. Alston, for those that don’t know, has been suspended indefinitely by the team for not making himself available to the team. Alston has played in 52 games this season for Miami, and has averaged 8 points and 3 assists.

If the Spurs make no move, George Hill will be looked upon to be a more vital scorer and distributor than before to keep San Antonio in contention for home court in their first round series. San Antonio is 1 1/2 games in front of Portland for the 7th seed, and would face the Mavericks in the first round if the playoffs started today.

While the Suns/Spurs game from Sunday came down to the final seconds, the real highlight was 2 of Amare Stoudemire’s 41 points. Trailing the Spurs by 5 late in the 4th, Amare received a pass from Steve Nash, and proceeded to take Richard Jefferson’s manhood in front of a national audience.
