While doing my daily surfing of my favorite blogs, I saw a story over at The Scores Report that raised my eyebrow. Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley made this statement when taking questions regarding re-signing Rudy Gay:

Q. Will you re-sign Rudy Gay, who is a restricted free agent this summer?

A. I feel we’re going to sign him. I don’t know what else you want me to say. Rudy is an outstanding player. He fits our team well. We’ve got the best front line in basketball.

About a year ago, as UConn was preparing for the NCAA Tournament, I remember hearing all the “experts” rave about the pro potential of Hasheem Thabeet, saying he was going to be a big time contributor immediately in the league. I remember as the NBA Draft drew nearer, I wrote this column, raising my doubts that Thabeet was “NBA Ready”, and that Memphis, whom I had predicted would take him, would be the best situation for him. 9 months later, it looks like I was right.
