Knicks Target Tony Parker and More

by The Boss on June 8, 2010

The Knicks front office might be quickly coming to the reality that they won’t be signing LeBron James, and while fans hold out hope, New York is putting together a pretty strong “Plan B” to be contenders in 2010-11.

The first person on “Plan B” is trading for Tony Parker. Those close to the Knicks and Mike D’Antoni realize of the teams that made the conference finals round, each had a outstanding floor general. Tony Parker presents the experience and explosiveness to thrive in D’Antoni’s system much like Steve Nash did. Who would New York have to give up in a sign and trade? David Lee looks to be the ideal choice, as the Spurs could bolster their front court and give Tim Duncan some needed help.

The next person on their list would ideally be Chris Bosh, though the odds of him going there are not good. A better possibility would be Amare Stoudemire or Carlos Boozer, whomever doesn’t join up with Dwyane Wade in Miami. Assuming Amare heads to South Beach, Boozer would provide a solid post presence, but does he really give New York anything different that David Lee didn’t give?

Rounding out the wish list on Plan B would be a perimeter scorer along the lines of Rudy Gay. Not certain that the Knicks will be able to have the cap room to secure Gay wihtout another sign and trade, however who would Memphis really want on the Knicks roster?
