Should The Nets Change Their Name?

by The Boss on May 21, 2010

New Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov is serious about making some changes to his newest investment, which might include renaming the franchise. The NY Daily News reported yesterday that Prokhorov first asked a group of reporters their thoughts regarding changing the name of the team, in which was taken as a joke, however may have some legs to it.

With the Nets on their way out of Jersey, via Newark before Brooklyn, a name and logo change would make sense. Bringing a losing identity to a new city isn’t the smartest thing in the world.

The Nets are not only vying for the services this summer of LeBron James, but should he pass on them, will be major players in Carmelo Anthony’s free agency next summer.

The marketing dollars around a new name/logo would certainly give the team some added buzz and revenue.

What do you think? Should the Nets change their name?
