Is It Over For Orlando?

by The Boss on May 19, 2010

Who saw this one coming? A team that had steamrolled through the first two rounds of the NBA Playoffs, not losing a game or breaking a sweat in the process of the 8 game winning streak, now on the brink of elimination. The Magic had chances to win both Game 1 and 2 of the East Finals against the Celtics, but key plays have cost them big. Now, with 3 long days off between their next game, fans begin to ask is it over?

In a word, Yes. With the daunting task of having to win 4 of the next 5 staring in front of them, the Magic would have to not only play perfect basketball over the next two weeks, but also witness a collapse like we haven’t seen in years, from a team poised to make it to the NBA Finals for the 2nd time in 3 years. This Celtics team is showing no signs of tanking, and as ESPN’s Jeff Van Gundy commented last night, they may be as good as the 2008 Championship club thanks to the improvement of Rajon Rondo.
