With the NBA regular season just days away from coming to a close, it’s a perfect time to start handing out some year-end awards. While I don’t believe the NBA should vote on their MVP award until after the playoffs have concluded, LayupDrill.com can more than handle the regular season honors.
Coach of the Year: Scott Skiles, Bucks
This award could go to four different guys this year, as the Bucks, Thunder, Grizzlies, and Suns have had much better years than any could expect. However, Skiles, who has been run out of locker room after locker room, has done more with less than his counterparts. The Bucks weren’t supposed to do anything this year, especially after star Michael Redd went down to injury again. Skiles has kept his team in the mix of the East playoffs all year, and quietly put together his best coaching performance to date.
Rookie of the Year: Brandon Jennings
Another award for the Bucks? Yes. The rookie guard who was passed on by so many teams has used the chip on the shoulder mentality to lead his team to the postseason, something that Tyreke Evans(better stats) cannot say.
Franchise Move of the Year: Suns not trading Amare
Of all the trades that did happen since last summer, the biggest move a franchise made was the one they did not make. Phoenix was rumored for months that they were shopping Amare Stoudemire, and there were reports he was headed everywhere from Miami to Cleveland. Luckily for them, they didn’t make that move, and since the All-Star break, Stoudemire has put up All-NBA numbers.
Fall From Grace Award: Allen Iverson
Iverson’s departure from Detroit, Memphis, and then Philly was painful to watch, and sad to see. The former NBA great likely has played his last game in the league, however we will always have the memories.
Most Valuable Player: Lebron James
While Kevin Durant is our Offensive Player of the Year, and Anderson Varejao our Defensive Difference Maker of the year, Lebron James 2009-10 campaign was truly special. Leading the Cavs to the best overall record is no easy task, and with the bulls eye squarely on his back, Cleveland prepares for the post season with great expectations.

It’s going to be a close one between James and Durant for MVP
