The Top 5 Front Lines in the NBA 2010 Edition

by The Boss on March 9, 2010

While doing my daily surfing of my favorite blogs, I saw a story over at The Scores Report that raised my eyebrow. Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley made this statement when taking questions regarding re-signing Rudy Gay:

Q. Will you re-sign Rudy Gay, who is a restricted free agent this summer?

A. I feel we’re going to sign him. I don’t know what else you want me to say. Rudy is an outstanding player. He fits our team well. We’ve got the best front line in basketball.

After I stopped laughing, I seriously put some thought to who are the best five front courts in the game right now. Check the list after the jump.

5. Grizzlies (Zach Randolph – Marc Gasol – Rudy Gay)
The pick up of Zach Randolph has been a great one for Memphis, and Rudy Gay is the best talent no one outside of Memphis talks about.

4. Celtics (Kevin Garnett – Kendrick Perkins – Paul Pierce)
Pierce and KG may have some age on them, but the C’s are still among the best across the front line in the game night in and night out.

3. Mavericks (Dirk – Haywood – Butler)
The new and improved Dallas front line is versatile and packs a mean offensive punch.

2. Lakers (Gasol – Bynum – Artest)
Ron Ron may be the loose cannon of the bunch, but when focused, he gives the champs an added dimension that Trevor Ariza did not. At least that’s what I have been led to believe.

1. Cavaliers ( Lebron – Shaq – Jamison)
This front line could cause all sorts of problems in the postseason, as Lebron can draw matchups by the 3 or 4, and Jamison can stretch any defense. That would leave the paint open for Shaq to do what he does.
