This time next week, all of us will be glued in front of our seats watching the NCAA Tournament brackets unveiled on CBS. But before all that, the conference tournaments of the major conferences will provide some madness before the madness. While there are bubble teams trying to play their way in, there are already 4 guarantees we know that won’t change.
1. The Number 1 seeds are set.
You can fill in these four teams on your 1 lines already: Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, and Duke. The first 3 are locks to be 1 seeds, and Kansas will likely be the top seed overall with a deep run in the Big 12 tournament. Duke needs to hold off Ohio State to lock up the 4th top seed, and a run to at least the ACC Tournament Semis should do that.
2. Evan Turner is the player of the year.
With respect to John Wall at Kentucky, Evan Turner is the reason the Buckeyes are ranked in the top 10, and even in the discussion as a top seed. Without Wall, the Wildcats would still be in the top 20. Without Turner, the Buckeyes would be on the bubble.
3. Some familiar names won’t be in the tournament.
We won’t likely see(barring a miracle run in their conference tourney) these teams in the Big Dance…
UConn, UNC, Memphis, Ole Miss, or Seton Hall.
4. The Big East will not get 10 in.
Unless something crazy happens, the Big East will get 9 of their schools in the tournament.
