As we head into the last days of the college basketball regular season, it seems fans have more questions than answers regarding who will wind up cutting the nets down in April. With the recent losses by Kansas and Kentucky over the weekend, Syracuse seems poised to claim the number 1 ranking overall in the country. But are they that good? Check the answer to that, and other burning questions after the jump?

Is Syracuse the best team in the country?

Short answer is no. While The Orange are certainly one of the better teams in the country, and vastly improved from last years group, my money is still on Kansas being the best overall team in the nation, with Syracuse, Kentucky, Duke, and Villanova rounding out my top 5.

Can Purdue still go deep in the NCAA’s without Robbie Hummel?

Possible, but no. With a healthy Hummel, many felt this Purdue team had enough to go all the way. Ranked currently at 3 in the polls, there will be some stiff challenges in Big 10 Play upcoming for Purdue, in which if they have hopes of landing a 1 seed, they will need to pass. One of those challenges is their game later today against Tom Izzo and Michigan State.

Could the Big 12 land 2 Number 1 Seeds?

While it is all but a lock that Kansas will secure of the top overall seeds in the upcoming tournament, some feel Kansas State is poised to grab a top seed, should they get hot over the next week and a half, beat the Jayhawks on March 3rd, and win the Big 12 tournament. Currently ranked 6th, the 24-4 Wildcats are a team no one will want to see on their side of the bracket in a few weeks.

How many teams get in from the Big East?

Lets start with the locks:
Syracuse, Villanova, Georgetown, West Virginia, Pitt, Lousiville and Marquette.

Bubble/Last Teams In:
UConn, Seton Hall, and Notre Dame

There could potentially be 9-10 teams from the deepest conference in the country dancing this March.
