The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill
8/19/09
While the rumors surrounding the next team star guard Allen Iverson will suit up for continue to swirl around the net, signs are starting to point in the direction of the Big Apple. Sources close to the situation believe while the two other Eastern Conference teams interested in A.I(Miami, Charlotte), might be higher on the priority list, the Knicks situation is ideal. Iverson could get a 1 year deal to be the primary offensive force on the perimeter, and flourish in the style of play coach Mike D’Antoni has established. The Knicks, meanwhile, take a small gamble on a hall of famer who will be more motivated than ever to prove his critics wrong.
The only way many see Iverson landing in New York is if the Knicks do not sign Ramon Sessions. While Sessions is much younger than Iverson, his potential contract would limit the team in their flexibility next summer.
Another free agent who should be finding a home very soon is former Cavalier Wally Szczerbiak. The Denver Post reports the Nuggets are expected to continue negotiations throughout the week, and likely sign the wingman to take the place of Linas Kleza.
President Barrack Obama will be teaming up with Cavs star Lebron James in an upcoming back to school special. Yahoo! Sports reports Obama will be alongside James in the program, that will run on Viacom networks.
The Orlando Magic look to be moving in on signing free agent guard Jason Williams, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Williams, who has recently worked out with the Grizzlies and Knicks, may add depth to an already loaded team.
