The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill
7/23/09
After a much needed vacation, the Rumor Mill is back, and catching up from the the news from earlier this week. We will start out in New York, where the Knicks have quite a decision to make in the coming days. Reports from the camps of Nate Robinson and David Lee seem to indicate the players would not mind returning to the Knicks next season. However, Plan A seems to be a sign-and-trade for one, if not both. Robinson’s agent, Aaron Godwin, told the NY Daily News that his player wants to stay in New York. The two sides are not expected to be able to come to terms on a long term deal, so many expect Nate to sign a one year deal in the range of $4 million for next season.
David Lee, on the other hand, is a different story. It seems the Blazers and Bulls are most interested in the services of Lee. Chicago would prefer to land Carlos Boozer via a trade, however all signs point to the Heat landing Boozer. Should that be the case, The Bulls would have to get a third team involved that would be interested in possibly a young star or expiring contract.
The Knicks seem focused on landing free agent guard Ramon Sessions from the Bucks, though he was their first choice to upgrade the point guard role. If the Knicks are able to secure Sessions, they would have to let Nate Robinson walk, and perhaps give David Lee away in a sign-and-trade to allow them the cap space desired for next summer’s free agents.
The Lamar Odom talks have resumed, however there is no official offer on the table , according to Lakers officials. Our friends at BlackSportsOnline.com reported first yesterday that Odom will receive a 4 year deal worth $40 million dollars to return to the champs. Neither side has confirmed as yet.
