The Boston Celtics have won the latest bidding war amongst Eastern Conference powers this summer, with Rasheed Wallace being the prize this time around. The Boston Globe reports that Wallace has agreed to a 2 year deal worth between $5.6 and $5.8 million dollars annually. Wallace drew interest from the Magic, Spurs , and Cavs as well, but it’s noted his strong bond with Kevin Garnett helped tip the scale in favor of Boston. The C’s are interested in landing veteran swingman Grant Hill as well, though they can only offer him close to $2 million per season, far less than other teams.

In other news, ESPN is reporting Jason Kidd has agreed to a 3 year, $25 million dollar deal to remain in Dallas. Mavricks owner Mark Cuban was intent on making certain Kidd returned to Dallas. The Mavericks will now move to their next order of business, which is to attempt to re-sign Brandon Bass. Bass has drawn interest from a few teams, one of which is the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports there are a half dozen teams that could be potential trade partners with the Utah Jazz for Carlos Boozer. Teams listed in the article included Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey, and Charlotte among others.

The real question will be if Rasheed is all used up. Can Boston’s coach get Rasheed to post up? Larry Brown could. Nobody else could. Centers naturally shy away from the post up as they age and Rasheed is no exception.
