Last fall, Antonio McDyess was courted by many teams, before re-signing with the Pistons. This summer, there was even more interest by playoff contenders. In the end, the veteran forward opted to join forces with future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan in San Antonio over returning to Detroit, or teaming up with Shaq in Cleveland.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that McDyess will sign a 2 year contract with San Antonio, where he fit in very nicely to the rotation. The total of the deal is expected to be nearly $6 million per season. With McDyess now off the table, Glen Davis and Channing Frye will begin to receive more interest from teams looking to land impact reserves at a bargain. The phone lines for David Lee and Paul Millsap may stay cool as long as their asking price is north of $10 million a season.

The Houston Rockets were granted a disabled player option for Yao Ming by the NBA, which freed up nearly $6 million dollars. That money was used for them to sign former Laker Trevor Ariza.

Chris “Birdman” Andersen will remain a Nugget for a while. As expected, Denver was able to come to terms with Andersen, whose new contract could earn him nearly $26 million over the life of it.

The latest in the Shawn Marion to Dallas rumors is that there will be three teams involved in the trade, with either the Thunder or Grizzlies expected to be included. Jerry Stackhouse’s contract will be shipped out to Toronto, and once received, he will be waived. Marion would provide Dallas with much needed offensive firepower on the wing to help them compete against some of the top tier teams out West.

The Mavericks are hoping the Orlando Magic don’t match the offer to reserve center Marcin Gortat. Orlando is not expected too, and if that remains true, Dallas will be much improved with their additions of Marion and Gortat, along with keeping Jason Kidd.

Dallas is not expected to retain Brandon Bass, and according to a tip sent to us earlier, the Magic are the front runners to land him. Portland, Detroit, and Cleveland have expressed interest as well.

The Cavaliers may be focusing in on former Suns forward Matt Barnes, with the lobbying of Shaquille O’Neal. O’Neal and Barnes were teammates in Phoenix, and with the Suns not bringing back the veteran wing man next season, O’Neal has reportedly given his endorsement for Cleveland to bring him in.
