After losing out on free agent big man Marcin Gortat, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban isn’t ready to stop in his pursuit of upgrading his team. In an NBA TV interview earlier today, Cuban stated the team has been in contact with Lakers forward Lamar Odom. Dallas can only offer Odom the mid level exception, which is far less than what Odom’s camp is ready to take at this point. While talks with the Lakers have stalled, there is some thought that Odom may agree to a 1 year contract with Los Angeles, and hope his stock rises even higher next year.

The Phoenix Suns bought out the contract of Ben Wallace, whom they received in the Shaq trade earlier this summer. Wallace and the Suns agreed to a $10 million dollar buyout, which in essence makes Wallace a free agent. There are some talks around Detroit that Big Ben could resurface back with the Pistons, on a 1 or 2 year deal.

In other news, the Chicago Bulls have waived veteran forward Tim Thomas. Thomas, who played in only 18 games with Chicago last season, averaged 5.8 ppg and 2.3 rpg.
