The talks of the Cavaliers offering Lebron James a contract extension, and him signing it this summer are slightly inflated. Sources close to the club do state they would like to entertain talks with their star regarding a contract extension, however they would prefer the talks remained between the two parties.

The Cavaliers enter the 2009-10 season with pressure to win not only from their fanbase, who saw a wonderful regular season campaign end at the hands of the Orlando Magic, but also increased pressure from James himself. Entering a contract year, everyone from the head coach to the ball boy will be watching the teams every step. Lebron, like fellow free agent to be Dwyane Wade, will both likely not sign this summer, and take a wait and see approach heading into training camp.

In other news, in a press release issued by the team, the Dallas Mavericks announced the signing of veteran forward Tim Thomas today. Thomas will give Dallas much needed depth in the front court, as well as a veteran presence in the locker room, and another shooter on the floor. The Knicks, whom Thomas had played with two different times prior, were also interested in bringing him back.

The Indiana Pacers have brought in veteran guard Earl Watson to the fold, signing the former OKC Thunder backup to a multi-year contract. Watson should be able to fit right into the rotation in Indiana, and compete for minutes previously held by Marquis Daniels.

The more Carlos Boozer seems to talk, the more he sounds like a politician. Boozer recently talked to the media, and stated he doesn’t see himself staying with the Jazz, and that his choice of future employers, the Miami Heat, would be a great fit for him. When speaking about the potential of pairing up with Dwyane Wade, Boozer stated the pair are both in their prime, and “it would be a hell of a combo.”
