The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill

The New York Knicks have continued to clear cap space in hopes of making a serious run at Cavs star Lebron James next summer, although most feel he will stay in Cleveland. Should that occur, New York will still be in good shape to lure some other big time stars to the Big Apple. NY Newsday reports today on the alternatives that the Knicks may look at should King James shun them. The KNicks will have the ability to wait another season, and make a run at Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant in the summer of 2011, or the dynamic point guards Chris Paul or Deron Williams in 2012. They still have the potential this summer to make a trade for Jazz forward Carlos Boozer as well. Would Knick fans like to see the Deron Williams to Carlos Boozer connection occur in MSG?
In other news, reports out of L.A are that Clippers owner Donald Sterling is the driving force after his team trying to land Allen Iverson. Most inside the organiztion believe that coach Mike Dunleavy would prefer to keep the core he has in place, minus The Answer.
It seems Lamar Odom reached out to the Lakers over the past few days, in hopes of restarting the contract negotiations between the both sides. Ron Artest also personally spoke with Odom, and is trying to play mediator in the situation. Whether or not the impass is strictly about money remains to be seen, but many around L.A feel a deal will get done when the dust settles. Odom wants to be a Laker, and his teammates desperately want him there.

yes to Deron. No to Boozer.
Imagine how awesome it would be if we could somehow attain Lebron next offseason and Deron the next. You could theoretically start Lebron at SG and that would form the best backcourt in the NBA, bar none. Throw in Gallinari at SF, Jordan Hill at PF, and whatever scrub at Center and you have one of the illest starting fives in the NBA.
