The Portland Trailblazers have made the latest splash in the free agent signing period, agreeing to terms with former Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu on a 5 year, $50 Million dollar deal. Turkoglu, who was thought to be courted by the Pistons and Raptors, however Portland gave the most enticing offer. Turkoglu should fit well into the Blazers rotation, playing alongside LeMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy.
In other news, the Denver Post reports Grant Hill is being courted by the Denver Nuggets to add a veteran presence to the locker room. Hill, who last played with the Suns last season, is expected to draw interest from other contenders as well, including the Celtics, Cavs, and Bulls.
Sources close to the Shawn Marion situation believe he will in fact sign a long term deal to remain with the Raptors. The Globe and Mail reported the deal could be for four years at $32 Million dollars.
ESPN reported earlier today, that as expected, Lakers coach Phil Jackson will be back on the bench for the 2009-10 season. The Lakers, looking to repeat, will have a new face in the starting lineup, with Ron Artest expected to join on. There are hopes that Lamar Odom will be retained as well, which could make a very solid core of Kobe Bryant, Odom, Artest, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Derek Fisher.
