Just hours after the surprising firing of Pistons coach Michael Curry today, word has begun to speculate over who will take over in Detroit. Two sources have stated Joe Dumars short list includes former Wolves coach Sam Mitchell, former Wizards coach Doug Collins, and former Mavs coach Avery Johnson. Johnson is expected to be among the favorites to land the job, however it is still uncertain whether or not he is interested in in returning to coaching next season.
In other news, the Suns All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire is reportedly not interested in being traded to Golden State. The Mercury News states that Stoudemire does not want to play center, and thinks the Warriors would have nothing left to compete.
Magic reserve center Marcin Gortat is expected to receive many offers from various teams, though according to the Orlando Sentinel, the Magic will not match offers if he receives contract offers from teams in excess of $5 Million per season.
If the Lakers expect to resign Trevor Ariza for cheap, the players agent has made them aware to think again. The Press Enterprise reports that agent David Lee says the Raptors, Pistons, and Blazers are all expected to offer contracts to the swingman.
