On the eve of Game 5 of the NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers enter tonight’s game up 3-1 over the Orlando Magic, and an opportunity to end the series tonight. Should they win, ideally a parade back home would be the norm. However, as FoxSports reported earlier today, any parade going down will have to be paid for by the team. Los Angeles city council members have spoken out and stated in these economic times, it simply is not possible for them to fund the celebration.
Los Angeles city councilwoman Jan Perry had an interesting take on the issue. “City employees have been asked by their employers to take a massive pay cut, nd we do not believe it is appropriate in this economic climate for taxpayers to be funding a parade.”

Parades are more for the people than the team. I am sure the Lakers would like to take the day off instead of performing these civic duties if the city is going make the organization pay out of their own pockets.
I think they should pay for it. It would be a nice way to show appreciattion to all the loyal LAKER fans who have been there.all year, and every year.LIKE ME LAKERS 2009 Champions!!!!!!
SEE YOU AT THE PARADE!!!!!
