I read this rumor yesterday, and at first, I literally laughed out loud. The Boston Herald reports that an NBA executive told the paper the Wolves are looking to go in a different direction, and that meant trading their best player, Al Jefferson, along with their lottery pick(6th overall). What are they trying to get back in return? Amare Stoudemire.
Amare is a good, borderline great player, but would you give up a young power forward in Jefferson who can put up just as good, if not better numbers than Stat long term, AND potentially a franchise changing player you can take at 6, such as DeMar DeRozan or Tyreke Evans? I don’t blame the Suns if they offered this, and if somehow they can pull this deal off, Steve Kerr should be named Executive of the Year immediately. Ship Amare out for one of the five best young big men in the game, and the ability to draft a playmaker like Evans, Brandon Jennings, or DeRozan. I know Kevin McHale is gone out of Minnesota, but is anyone with a basketball IQ running the show?
