Back before the All-Star break, the New Orleans Hornets had agreed to terms to trade Tyson Chandler to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a move that was done to save money, though unpopular in their clubhouse. Chandler would later fail his physical, and returned back to the Hornets. Months later, there may be interest once again in the Hornets big man. The Arizona Republic reports today that the Suns may look at acquiring the services of Chandler, to play alongside Amare Stoudemire, and send Shaquille O’Neal to New Orleans in return. There would have to be other players, or perhaps a third team, involved in that deal, however that may heat up in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
In other news, Nuggets forward Chris “Birdman” Andersen has revived his career in Denver this season, and when he becomes a free agent this summer, is expected to draw interest by many teams. Andersen quickly became a fan favorite in Denver, and among the most popular players in the locker room. Teams with cap room this season may take a long look at the negotiations between Denver and Andersen.
The Sixers head coaching search is even more narrow now that ESPN analyst Avery Johnson withdrew his name out of the running for the head coaching position. The Philadelphia Daily News reports that with Johnson out of the mix, Philly will shift it’s focus on Eddie Jordan and Dwayne Casey for second interviews.
