Its pretty obvious the Allen Iverson experiment in Detroit has not been a successful one. The Answer isn’t happy coming off the bench, and his team is struggling to remain relevent in the East. GM Joe Dumars took a mighty gamble with this deal, and he gambled that this short term struggle would allow the Pistons to be major players in the free agent market this year and next. Only time will tell for Detroit, but what about Iverson?
Here are five teams that potentially could be good fits for A.I next season and beyond.
1. Charlotte – The young Bobcats seem to be one player away from being a near playoff team in the East, to a 5 or 6 seed. Iverson respects Larry Brown, and Brown got the absolute best out of Iverson when they were together in Philly. Could you imagine Iverson, Brown in practice, with Michael Jordan watching from the sidelines? Charlotte would be buzzing. Charlotte will have to make some salary cap space to bring in Iverson, but it may be something they entertain.
2. Toronto – Could the Raptors gamble and bring A.I to Canada? It would be a bit of a stretch, and most feel the Raptors would much rather bring Steve Nash back home.
3. Memphis – The young Grizzlies are very young, and very talented. Bringing in Iverson to play alongside Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo could be an explosive offensive trio.
4. Atlanta – The Hawks would be an interesting move, only if Atlanta and Mike Bibby do not come to terms. The Hawks really don’t NEED Iverson, and it’s not certain Iverson would WANT to play second fiddle to anyone anymore, let alone Joe Johnson.
5. Philadelphia – The 76ers would seem a pretty good fit for Iverson, as he returns to the place he had his greatest heights. Andre Miller is a free agent this summer, and while it’s probable Miller will return, there will be other teams looking to bring him in as well.

I think iverson sould go to the NEW YORK KNICKS…i mean everyone loves to play at madison square and they dont have a star on their team, nate robinson is good but not good ebough to make a team…the knicks also have great fans despite how bad they are and i think iverson can make them into a playoff team again
I think Iverson should go to lakers in exchange of derek fisher…jus to get a championship ring. lakers can afford to pay kobe and A.I.
Mark,
I think the Lakers may look at a guy like Andre Miller to run their offense over Iverson. AI and Kobe on the same team? Not enough basketballs to share. He had that problem in Denver.
Brian,
I think Iverson in New York, if it was a 1 year contract, could make sense.
charllotess a good place but I reckon he is needed more in philly they need a scorer and thats exactly what he is.
But I think what would be the best place for him is Atlanta as Mike Bibby is nt that good plus they need some heart, a guy that can play with all his might.
plus id hate to see him wear anything else but red white and blue.
i honeslty think he should go back to philly to take his team to the finals and win the championship and plus i think they will have the #1,2 seed in the eastern playoffs and also they got a squd…
Thanks for your comment Anthony.
I think if the Sixers dont bring Andre Miller back, I wanna see him back in Philly too. Eddie Jordan could use someone like Iverson to lead.
I personally think the best team for iverson would probably be the Portland trailblazers because they can move Roy to Pg and put iverson at the SG. They will not have any mismatches on the defensive end and iverson will fit well with there fast tempo style of basketball.
Thanks for the comment Geo. I think the Blazers point guard role will be one they need to upgrade, but I am not sure Brandon Roy playing point long term would be the fix.
the only place for ai looks like the bobcats. it is a perfect match
Charlotte may be going in a different direction, and if so, Iverson will be stuck.
A.I should really go to the bobcats because when he was in the 76ers, he was the best in the league with Larry Brown on his side.
I think Clipper needs new name, owner and coach because every time they get # one draft pick great player he gets hurt it is some kind of curse or what? They have bunch of good players but they need one all star player like Allen Iverson who can score any time. He is exciting and great player please give him a second chance he will make things happens. I understand a player like his caliber who wants to come off from the bench. He can give 20+ points any given nights. He can still play 48 minutes he is just exciting player. How come NBA general manages and coaches are so in compassionate. Mike Dunleavy needs to retire he is already bold headed he needs brake from the NBA basketball coaching. He can do commentary and other things.I am not mean to him I have sympathy on him but he is stress out , just working to hard and some time when he is absent team play well and they actually beat other teams that I have seen few times.Clipper needs to play different kind of basketball not shooting from out side all the time have to drive, cuts , slice and do other things. Few days ago they could not score 4th quarter just shooting from out side. When ball does not go from out side shooting why they do not drive, slice or low post play design at least get to the free throw line… They got rid of Magatte who can drive score and get to the line at least 6 times. Elton Brand who can do lots of low post scoring etc. I wonder owner does not have any pride of team or what ? When he goes home he tell his wife honey we lost again… I guess he is a lawyer and just wants to make money not to win the ball games or what just trading the players? Most people make fun of Clipper therefore needs to change name or go back to San Diego where they came from.I do come to watch the game since they were Sports arena and now better Staples Center. I remember way back u guys have center Benot Benjamin good strong center and some times he beats Lakers too.I wonder where he is?
Best wishes happy holidays…
Om Shanti… Om Shanti… Om Shanti…
Hope your new first round draft pick power forward will be able to play soon and win some games and able to join the play off spot. I like young guy Gordon, please give him enough time to play he will make things happen otherwise after the contract is over some one will get him.
