More bad news for Boston – Leon Powe has torn ACL

Leon Powe in happier times
The Celtics were dealt a huge blow to their postseason chances earlier this afternoon, as ESPN reported that Leon Powe is done for the rest of the postseason, as he tore his ACL in Monday night’s game. Powe, who would be first to come off the bench when Glen Davis was in foul trouble, will now be relegated to watching alongside Kevin Garnett. Mikki Moore, whom Boston picked up late in the season, will now have to play some of the most important minutes of his NBA career over the next few days.

Boston’s frontcourt came into this series with Chicago already much thinner in their rotation, and now the trio of Kendrick Perkins, Glen Davis, and Mikki Moore are the only healthy big men available. Expect the Celtics to go small an awful lot now, with coach Rivers giving the Bulls looks they have not seen yet. We could see Rajon Rondo, Eddie House and Ray Allen in the backcourt, with Paul Pierce shifting over to play power forward, and either Perkins or Davis in the middle at times.
