The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill

The last day of the NBA’s regular season is here, and there seems to be more questions than answers around the league going into the final day. While all the playoff teams in both conferences have clinched births, seedings and matchups are not concrete yet. There are also many coaching vacancies that will begin to be filled, though the Wizards have jumped out the gate filling their spot already.
One team with plenty of questions this off season will be the Toronto Raptors. The Toronto Star reports that Raptors forward Shawn Marion, who is an unrestricted free agent this summer, is looking forward to the free agent process, and has shown no signs that he leaning towards returning to Canada for a long term deal. Marion will draw interest from a handful of teams, though the money he may have once commanded will be slightly different. The Raptors also have to worry about their head coaching position, and if they are ready to permanently hand over the reigns to Jay Triano. The Toronto Sun reports today that the team should remove the interim label from the coach, and lock in Triano into a contract. Though Toronto struggled this year, there were some glimpses of hope throughout the year.
In other news, to no surprise to anyone, UConn’s Hasheem Thabeet put his name in the hat for the 2009 NBA Draft yesterday. Thabeet is expected to be a top five pick on nearly everyone’s draft boards.
