Could Chris Bosh be a Blazer next year?

Though the Toronto Raptors have been improving in the win column over the past few weeks, their season will soon be over. Then the talks of Chris Bosh’s future will take center stage. It’s no secret that Bosh, who can outright leave at the end of next season due to being a free agent, wants to expand his exposure. Unfortunately for Raptors fans, he won’t be able to do that in Toronto. The Raptors are reportedly coming to grips with the fact they rather do a sign-and-trade with their All-Star, and get something back for him, rather than see him outright leave. There are many pieces of the puzzle that would have to fall in place for everyone to be happy with any deal this summer though.

The first would be Bosh, and where he would like to play. While Bosh would not be able to demand a list of teams he would like to play for, he also could essentially veto a deal if the team Toronto wants to trade him to cannot get Bosh to agree to an extension on his deal. No club that will be in the mix will want to rent a star of Bosh’s caliber for just one season. Alan Hahn of Newsday reports this morning that there are 3 teams from the West that could make sense, the Blazers, Warriors, and Mavericks. While each make sense for various reasons, another tip that was sent in from someone close to the Warriors situation is that they very much would like to bring Bosh into Oakland, however they would like Toronto to take either Corey Maggette’s contract or possibly even Monta Ellis in part of a deal. They also would want to be assured Bosh would not be bolting town after next year.

In other news from the weekend, Timberwolves coach Kevin Mchale is expected to return to Minnesota next season as the coach, but that is all. The Pioneer Press reports that the Wolves have been conducting interviews for the GM position, but McHale will not be considered. Mchale has not come out to confirm any report of him returning next year, instead opting on a wait and see approach regarding Minnesota’s front office moves.

Knicks fans have long waited to see their team be a major player in the off season. By the sounds of coach Mike D’Antoni, their wishes will come true this summer. The NY Post reports today that aside from Wilson Chandler and rookie Danilio Gallinari, the rest of the roster could be on the trading block. D’Antoni, obviously bothered by the fact that New York has only won 29 games thus far, and will not make the playoffs in his first season running the show, seems open to exploring all options, including trading expiring contracts of productive players.

How is pretty simple Matt. if the Raptors don’t feel they can re-sign Bosh long term, rather than let him walk, they will look to deal him.
