There is an awful lot of basketball on tonight, in both the college and pro ranks. Here is a snapshot of the notable games, along with my picks.
Utah Jazz at Atlanta Hawks – 7PM EST
The Jazz and Hawks both enter today’s game as the current number four seeds in their respective conferences. Atlanta, who has won 2 in a row overall, is 22-7 at home, and there should be a playoff like atmosphere in the A tonight. Utah, who have won 12 in a row overall, are just a 1/2 game behind Houston for the 3 seed, and in striking distance of the Spurs for the 2 seed.

Boston Celtics at Miami Heat – 7:30PM EST
The Celtics will be starting Stephon Marbury at the point tonight in Miami, as they go up against a red hot D-Wade and Miami. The Heat, who are trying to overtake Atlanta for the number 4 seed overall, have a golden opportunity to steal a game against a battered and bruised Celtics club. Boston, playing without Tony Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Rajon Rondo, is desperately trying to stay in the race for the number one seed in the East, however time is running out.

Dallas Mavericks at Portland Trailblazers – 10:00PM EST
The Mavericks have a comfortable five game lead over Phoenix for the 8 seed overall, after last night’s smack down of the Suns. Portland, who owns the Lakers at home, are sandwhiched between four teams between the 3 seed and the 7 seed.

L.A Lakers at Houston Rockets – 8:30PM EST
The Lakers and Rockets play the showcase game of the night in what will certainly have a Western Conference Finals type of feel to it in Houston. The Rockets have adjusted to life without T-Mac very well, and the trade of Rafer Alston has allowed their young talent to blossom. The Lakers want to get back to their winning ways, after getting smacked down in Portland last time out.

College:
Seton Hall vs. Syracuse – 9:00PM EST
The Big East Tournament in MSG is special, and Syracuse usually packs the house in prime time.

Texas A+M vs. Texas Tech – 9:30PM EST
The Aggies “should” make the NCAA Tournament, even if somehow they lose tonight.
