On the eve of a critical showdown with Western Conference rival San Antonio, the New Orleans Hornets gave back to their loyal fans on Saturday. The Hornets held a open practice in their arena, allowing kids to shoot on the floor, while getting instruction from head coach Byron Scott. Hornets stars Chris Paul and Peja Stojakovic were also there involved in the fan interaction. The Hornets play the Spurs tonight on ESPN.

Staying out in the West, a couple of former teammates are suffering from injuries that could cause both to miss quite a bit of time. Clippers point guard Baron Davis will be out a while, according to the AP, due to stomach ulcers. Meanwhile, his former backcourt teammate in Golden State, Stephen Jackson, is expected to be out the rest of the season after he has surgery on his left big toe to remove a bone fragment. Both the Warriors and Clippers have had seasons to forget, and I hope this once feared duo can both recover from their injuries quickly.

As teams start to begin to think about the offseason, one name that may be the center of potential draft day trade talks is Raptors big man Chris Bosh. Bosh, who will be a free agent at the end of next season, may be dealt, though whoever winds up trading for him may look to have a contract extension in place, so they are not renting him just for one season. Potential suitors for Bosh if a trade is involved include the Warriors, Rockets, Thunder, and Mavericks. The Knicks, who had long been rumored to be trying to bring both Chris Bosh and Lebron James in during the 2010 free agency period, may be out of luck again.
