Rondo’s Back! But Powe’s got the VENGANCE!

Friday the 13th didn’t seem to effect the Celtics much as they returned to their home court to face the Memphis Grizzlies. The game started with Boston giving Memphis and first quarter leeway, of 27-21 scoring, and afterward the Grizzlies just couldn’t keep up. Trying to stay in sync with the Lakers and the Cavaliers, who have already clinched their Pacific and Central divisions, and already over 50 games, the Celtics managed to pull in win number 50, with their new starter and power player, Leon Powe and returning monster point guard, Rajon Rondo.
Powe, who exploded for 30 points on Friday, surged passed the ailing Grizzlies’; defense, while Ray Allen damaged the offense scoring 22 points. Paul Pierce had another quiet night going 1-5 from three and giving up just 17 points. As Rondo made his return from an ankle sprain suffered playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers, went a bit cold with 4 points, but Stephon Marbury was there to back it up, giving up 9 points, moving from his scoreless nights for the past couple games. The Celtics spurted their defensive venom, allowing the Grizzlies to shoot 42% from the field, the kind of shooting percentage numbers you would see when Kevin Garnett was still on the court. As for Garnett, he will not be likely to return before April, but just in time for the playoffs to freshen up his legs, and help his team make a run for another championship. Today, the Celtics will face the Milwaukee Bucks at 1:00PM, looking for game 51.
