The Rocky Mountain News reports today that due to the injury of New Orleans guard Chris Paul yesterday against Portland, we could see Carmelo Anthony as a injury replacement, and Nuggets teammate Chauncey Billups as the starting point guard. Paul strained his right groin in the third quarter of the game last night, and when he left New Orleans was up by nearly 20. When he went out, the Hornets eventually squandered the lead, and lost the game 97-89.

As if things could get any worse for the Washington Wizards, the Washington Post reports today that swingman Deshawn Stevenson is out again, after he had missed 15 games with a back injury. Stevenson missed nearly the entire month of January with the back injury, and is attempting to avoid surgery, however things don’t look optimistic currently for that.

The Orlando Magic lost point guard Jameer Nelson last night in their 105-95 loss to the Mavericks due to a dislocated shoulder. Magic GM Otis Smith had previously told The Orlando Sentinel that he was not looking at making any moves before the February 19th trade deadline, however when the results of Nelsons MRI are made known later today, that may change everything. The Magic, who sit at 36-11 currently, are right in the mix of the Eastern Conference playoff race for best overall record, and would almost certainly need someone to step up to take the place of Nelson should he be out for an extended period.
