The Lakers and Spurs played perhaps the best regular season game of the season last night, as from start to finish the top two Western Conference contenders were as good as advertised. The last six minutes of the fourth quarter was similar to a West Finals Game 7, with the teams trading baskets. The Lakers, who at one point were down 9 points, made a furious comeback, capped by Kobe Bryant’s would-be game winning shot with seconds left…

The greatest player in the game, as well as the announcers, thought the game was over. But Roger Mason Jr. had something to say about that. Mason Jr. hit a clutch shot in the corner, made it, while being fouled by Derek Fisher. Mason Jr. hit the go ahead free throw, which wound up being the game winning shot.

Trevor Ariza wound up getting the final shot for L.A, as Kobe was double teamed in the corner on the final play.

The Spurs survived with a 1 point victory. With that win, Are the Spurs the only competition for L.A out West?
