We start out Friday’s Rumor Mill with word out of Memphis that the Grizzlies and Marc Iavaroni are going their seperate ways. Memphis, who is in the midst of a seven game losing streak, have a great young core of players in Rudy Gay, Mike Conley, Hakim Warrick and rookie O.J. Mayo. Unfortunately for Iavaroni, he could not get them to gel at the same time. Assistant head coach Johnny Davis will take over in the interim.
In other news, Heat GM Pat Riley addressed the media yesterday, and fielded questions regarding the status of the long-rumored Shawn Marion for Jermaine O’Neal trade. Riley did not deny the interest, but made it clear that the Heat need to improve.
Lebron James spoke with the media yesterday openly campaigning for Mo Williams to be added to the All-Star team as a reserve. The starters were announced yesterday, and as expected, Allen Iverson and Dwayne Wade secured the starting spots in the backcourt. The point guard position in the East is packed though, with Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris, Mo Williams, and Rajon Rondo all getting consideration for two spots.
