It's way too bad he made those homophobic comments, but he has gone through a lot of education about the gay community and has stated in interviews how much he regrets saying what he said. Does that mean he still isn't a homophobe? Who knows. There are people I think in everybody's life that may come off racist/prejudice, but are just ignorant and not understanding of one another. The director of the YES Institute, which sponsors the program Hardaway has been attending, described him as "genuine" and said that the staff was "surprised how real our relationship with Tim got."
