The Bobcats are obsessed with Eddy Curry

by The Boss on December 16, 2008

eddycurry1The Michael Jordan-led Charlotte Bobcats have made some strange moves lately. Many questioned the choice of undersized but overachieving point guard DJ Augustin in June, when they already had a up and coming guard in Raymond Felton. The most recent Jason Richardson deal gave the Bobcats a player in Boris Diaw, which plays essentially the same position as Emeka Okafor, as well as Raja Bell, who doesn’t really do anything well. They gave the Suns their best scorer, and go-to guy in the crunch time. But through all of those moves has been the strange obsession with Knicks center Eddy Curry.

Curry, who hasn’t played a game this year due to an injury to his knee, is a career 13 point and 5 boards a game guy, but that is of course when he is healthy. Curry’s contract expires at the end of this year, and that is perhaps the major appeal he brings to Charlotte. A trade for Curry would likely have involve multiple players though. Of course, most feel the Knicks covet former Mike D’Antoni disciples Bell and Diaw, but the Knicks would also have to take on some dead weight on the bench, such as Sean May’s expiring contract.

Curry has the player option to keep his salary two more years, so it will only expire if he wants it to.

Thats very true. Curry and Sean May both have expiring contracts, so maybe the Knicks want to swap one uninspired big man for another.
