I had a chance to check the second half of the Charlotte Bobcats vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game Monday night, and while I enjoyed the opportunity to see a NBA game in person, it seems most people in Charlotte have better things to do than brave the cold to watch the home team. This goes back to my article on NBA Attendance and possible relocation a few weeks back. I truly believe attendance, or the lack of it, ties back to the product being presented on the court. Right now, you can’t get a ticket for a Celtics home game, but they also are the defending champions. Even crossing over to other sports, a Monday Night Football game hosted by the Charlotte Panthers would be packed compared to this pitiful showing last night. The official attendance last night was 9,285 people.
As for the game, The Bobcats won. Some notes I took away from it…
1. The Timberwolves are going to miss Corey Brewer, who went down for the season a few days ago.
2. The Bobcats point guard combo of Raymond Felton and DJ Augustin could work, if Larry Brown uses them correctly
3. The Bobcats would be crazy to try to trade Gerald Wallace
4. No one goes to Bobcats game in Charlotte
